New hat

Ravelry is a great thing, but it makes it way too easy for me to neglect this blog. I have been knitting, but at a slow, steady pace. Having a break from work and school until January 5th is really nice and I cranked out a Gretel (Ravelry link) for myself in a little over a day.

I don't really wear hats but I made a purple version of this for my SIL for Christmas to match the scarf I made her and it came out really cute. So I decided that I needed a smokey blue version for myself. Neither of these pictures really get the color right, the true color is somewhere between these two photos.

Looks pretty cute, despite my fat head. :)

Christmas was really nice this year, even though it was a bit chaotic. We had our own small Christmas at home in the morning, then went to my parents house for the afternoon, and completed the day at my inlaw's house. I understand now why my parents always seemed to be exhausted during the holidays.

I'm looking forward to a nice, quiet New Years at home. I'll probably fall asleep before the ball drops, just like last year. I have a few goals for 2009, namely to loose all the weight I gained back. I need to get back on the plan the nutritionist had me on, not only to loose weight but because I have been having all sorts of stomach problems and I need to be worried about my insulin resistance turning into diabetes. Plus Jim and I are planning to start trying for another baby about this time next year, so it would be nice to be at a healthy weight and back into healthy eating habits before I plump up again.
