Socks x 2

Mom's socks are finished!



She gets them tomorrow and I anticipate she'll be as happy to get them as I am to have them finished. Technically they were a birthday gift. Her birthday was in February. Yes, I am a terrible daughter. At least she's great about never asking when things will get finished so the only person making me feel guilty is myself.

I also started a pair of socks for myself.



I'm giving the toe-up method another shot because I found instructions for a toe-up heel flap. I detest short row heels. They always look like crap. I want to make these into knee socks so this way I can knit until the yarn runs out. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to do the leg in 3x1 ribbing or if I will just suck it up and do leg shaping. It will probably look better the latter way.

Last night was a SSK (South Side Knitters) meeting and it was so nice getting out to knit for an evening with friendly knitters. It's just not the same at the LYS. I don't really feel welcome there and it seems like everyone is just attempting to outdo each other. The last time Jesi and I went to an overnight knit there I felt really uncomfortable. There was this charming woman who was sitting right by us that talked rather loudly to some other women about her syphilis. I kid you not. I couldn't make that up if I wanted to.

I'm so excited that festival season is here! Putnam was a disappointment but June 2nd is the Hoosier Hills Fiber Festival and then in August I'm going to Stitches with Jesi. It's only for a day to splurge at the market but it will be my first out of state yarn crawl. I've been on an involuntary yarn diet (all I want is friggen alpaca and my LYS has like...none) so I have a feeling my stash is going to grow a lot this summer.
