Lacework is beautiful but...

The downside to knitting lace is that update photos are boring and pretty much pointless until you knit a TON of it. Especially if the pattern is something very repetitious like I'm knitting right now. Lace seems to knit up so very slowly.

I figured out this morning that the center panel of the shawl will be, at minimum, 65,760 stitches. This does not include the stitches in the border that I'll knit around the edge and there's a good chance that I will knit several more repeats of the center panel to make it longer in an attempt to use up more of the 1,650 yards of lace weight I have.

No wonder it seems to be going so slowly.

  1. Never! Ever! Do the math! You might keel over under the sheer wieght of the resulting # & don't calculate your hourly average stitches to find how much time you still need to put in, then you're doomed!
