I have no good excuse

I don't really have a good excuse for not updating. I've just been insanely busy. School has kept me under a lot of pressure and it doesn't look like I'm going to get a break until May. And then it's off to Arizona for four weeks of field school. The hubby was really supportive of me going to South Africa but the more I thought about it the more I convinced myself that it wasn't right for me right now. I'm not saying I'll never do it, just not this summer. Arizona offers me the opportunity of real archaeological experience and since that's what I really want to do it makes more sense. South Africa would be amazing, but it would be 3 1/2 weeks on another continent, far away from my husband and my little girl. Arizona is so much closer and it would be so much easier for my two favorite people to come out and spend a weekend there with me.

I have been knitting! I started and finished Mr. Greenjeans.

I've also started the Perpendicular Lines Pullover from Men in Knits for the Hubby.

I started off making the Amhra’n Gra’ (which I can't find a link for on Knitpicks anymore) but the cables were totally lost in the dark blue yarn. This new pattern suits him better anyway and I'm sure he'll wear it a lot more since it's such a basic sweater.

I've also started a pair of fingerless gloves for him as well.

I let him have a lot of input on these and I hope he'll actually wear them. I hate that he sits on his hands in the car to warm them up. Just the tops of his fingers stick out of these, from the last knuckle on, so I hope they will keep his hands warm.

I got a pair of needles and a pretty tissue holder from Villain Extraordinaire for commenting on her blog. I can't believe that nobody snatched up the needles before I did.

And also, I'm an Aunt again! My sister gave birth to her second child.

Carson Daniel made his appearance in early December. I've only seen him a couple times because I've been so insanely busy. He is such a pretty baby though and I hope I get over to see him (and his mama) soon. He's the first boy in the family in some time (I have two sisters, and my sister and I had girls) so he's been fussed over a lot.

  1. I've been looking at the men in knits book lately. Unsure so far though. How did you like it overall? Plenty of usable patterns?
