I jumped on the Twilight wagon

I started reading the Twilight series. I know, it's awful teenage, angst-ridden fiction. But it's been awhile since I've had time for pleasure reading and MANOHMAN was it wonderful to indulge. I finished the first two books in about 24 hours last week and I'm going through withdraw because I have to wait until payday (this Thursday) to buy the last two. So I read Edward's story online this morning, which is basically like Twilight all over again, just in his voice. It's like I'm in high school again, locked in my bedroom with Anne Rice novels and my 'horribly depressing' music as my parents called it. I can't get enough. (And it would be nice if Rice would start writing about vampires again. I can't even bring myself to read Christ the Lord. Plus, turning Lestat into a good guy...ugh. He is so GOOD at being BAD and it's just not fair. Anyway.) I give Meyer credit, she's not the greatest writer but she creates a good story and reminds me how it felt to be 17 and crazy, irrationally in love. And how 'romantic' the idea of having a vampire for a boyfriend seemed to me. Like I said, irrational. ;)

I'm a little nervous about starting the last two books. I've read reviews and people don't seem to be fans. I cheated and read spoilers (because spoilers never really seem to spoil a book for me, I'm notorious for skimming the last chapter halfway through a book) and I'm not sure I'm going to like the way the series ends. Yet another vampire author who's going to let me down.

By the way, Edward in the movie has got nothing on Edward in the book.

that is beyond true. i was actually pretty disappointed in the casting of the movie. none of them really met my minds eye creation. i hope the 2nd movie is better than the first. i am a nerd.
