No pictures for this entry. I haven't finished anything. I've been working on the same projects and a pair of stockenette socks which aren't very interesting. The snowdrop shawl and I aren't speaking right now. I picked up the stitches around the edge to knit the border and it just looks wonky. I really want to knit the border, I think it's so pretty, but if it doesn't cooperate then I'll just rip out the few inches I've done and omit the border altogether.
I also started the Deep V Argyle Vest. I've been eyeing the pattern for some time and decided that if I can knit fair isle socks then I can handle an argyle vest. It will be a good trial run for making an adult-size sweater. I had a lot of dark brown Eco Wool in my stash that was going to be a shawl but I changed my mind on the color. Jim took me to Sheep Street on Saturday and I bought some cream colored Eco Wool and gave it a decent start this morning. (After ripping back the first pattern row 3 times because I wasn't getting the right stitch count and I finally realized I had skipped the increase row. It helps to read the pattern people.) I really love the dark brown and cream together. I'm not far enough into it yet to warrant photos, but they should be coming soon. Sheep Street is the neatest little shop. When we arrived Jim was puzzled by the large number of motorcycles parked out front. I told him bikers can knit, after all Megan does. Plus I bought some yarn for a couple other projects and needles to start shawls for my grandmother and MIL.
I also picked up my ribbons today. I was so excited. I noticed on the back of the tag for my shawl there is a "HM", just like the tag on my socks. I assume this stands for Honorable Mention because the Pea Pod Sweater has "1st" on its tag. Does this mean my shawl won an Honorable Mention and I just didn't get a ribbon? I'm going to wait a few days and see if they post the results on the State Fair website. Then I'm going to try to find a number I can call to talk to someone about it.
